Due to recent weather conditions, the Open Swim and “in water” events related to the Open Swim event scheduled for April 23, 2016 at Northshore Park have been cancelled.
Over the last few days, a historic amount of rain has fallen throughout the region. Much of the rain that occurred in the northern and western portions of The Woodlands (and surrounding areas) flows directly into and through Lake Woodlands.
The recent storm events have caused flooding and resulted in irregular water currents, floating debris and vegetation, high turbidity and high water levels in the lake. These conditions are not conducive for the open swim event scheduled for this Saturday.
The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department will be issuing refunds for the open water swim, both short and/or long course. These refunds will be automatically processed, and sent via mailed check. Please allow two to three weeks for processing.
Participants’ safety is always the top priority, and we believe the decision to cancel the open water swim events is consistent with that priority.
The CB&I TRI – The Woodlands Race Management will continue to monitor the conditions of Lake Woodlands daily, and will determine the ability to conduct the swim portion of the triathlon before race day.
The below events will still be hosted on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Northshore Park as follows:
· CB&I TRI – The Woodlands Packet Pick Up (8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)
· Clinic with TJ Fry – 10 a.m.
· Pre-Race Meetings with Finish Strong Coaching (8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.)
· Flat Tire Clinic with Bikeland of The Woodlands (8 a.m. and 10 a.m.)
